of Osaka Castle with a guide

This is a guided walking tour of about 1 hour held in the evening. Walk along the moats, take in the towering stone walls and ramparts, and hear how Osaka Castle became one of Japan’s most important fortresses. The tour focuses on the exterior highlights rather than the inside of the main tower.

Enjoy the panoramic view and massive stone walls

First, enjoy a panoramic view while listening to your guide for about 15 minutes. Learn about the castle’s strategic design and the samurai era as you see the tall stone walls up close.

Hear about Shinto and Buddhism at Hokoku Shrine

Stop at Hokoku Shrine for about 20 minutes of guided explanation. An introduction to Shinto and Buddhism helps you understand Japanese culture a little more deeply.

Pass Sakuramon Gate and finish at the main tower

Pass through Sakuramon Gate with about 15 minutes of commentary and stop at a great photo spot for the illuminated castle. The tour ends outside the main tower.
