This day tour from Osaka takes you through the countryside of Wakayama and along the Shirahama coast. Ride a cat-themed train at Kishi Station, home of the beloved station master cat Tama, then watch a tuna-cutting show and enjoy fresh seafood for lunch at the Toretore Ichiba seafood market. You will also visit Senjojiki, a vast rock plateau facing the Pacific, and the Sandanbeki cliffs. If you like, relax at a Shirahama hot spring with more than 1,300 years of history. Travel round-trip by air-conditioned bus with a guide who speaks English, Japanese, and Chinese.

Depart Osaka to explore Wakayama
and the Shirahama coast in one day
Meet at Exit 2 of Nipponbashi Station (Namba/Shinsaibashi area) and head to Wakayama by air-conditioned bus. After enjoying the cat train, the seafood market, and the coastal scenery of Shirahama, return to Osaka at around 6:40 PM (subject to traffic).
Ride a cat train at Kishi Station

Visit Kishi Station, a charming countryside station shaped like a cat's face. Once on the verge of closing, this small station was revived when a calico cat named Tama began greeting passengers as station master. Today, "Nitama" carries on her legacy.
Ride one of the cat-themed trains, such as the Tama Train, Strawberry Train, or Toy Train. The train type depends on the schedule, and the ride takes about 15 minutes. Browse the cat-themed cafe and the Tama shop for cat stamps and souvenirs.
Watch a tuna-cutting show and enjoy seafood at Toretore Market

Head to Toretore Ichiba, a large seafood market in Nanki-Shirahama. At the tuna-cutting show held 2-3 times a day (times vary), watch a huge bluefin tuna being carved right in front of you. Lunch is free time, so choose from seafood dishes such as tuna sashimi bowls, grilled fish, and octopus rice (at your own expense). You can also relax at Toretore Onsen if you wish (admission extra).
Face the Pacific at Senjojiki and Sandanbeki

Stand on Senjojiki, a vast rock formation facing the Pacific Ocean, and enjoy the crashing waves. Then at Sandanbeki, take an elevator 36 m down to a cave at sea level, once used by pirates in the Heian period, and see rock formations shaped by natural erosion (cave admission extra).
※ On weekends, holidays, and in peak season, the guide may adjust the order of sights, visiting times, or number of stops depending on traffic. Main sights will not be removed.
※ The cat train changes daily.
