From Osaka: Shirahama Beach & Toretore Market & Sandanbeki Day Tour

Depart Osaka and
relax on Shirahama Beach

After about 2.5 hours by bus from Osaka, arrive at Shirahama Beach, Wakayama's most famous beach. Spend about 2 hours and 20 minutes at your own pace: stroll along the shore, dip your feet in the sea, or photograph the turquoise water. In summer, the beach comes alive with colorful parasols and beach activities.

Near the beach is Shirarayu, one of the most iconic baths of Shirahama Onsen with over 100 years of history. Fed by natural hot spring water, it offers a taste of traditional Japanese bathing culture. The entrance fee is not included and is paid on site if you wish to use it.

Enjoy a seafood lunch at Toretore Market

Spend about 90 minutes at Toretore Market, one of the largest fish markets in western Japan. Browse fresh seafood, local delicacies, seasonal fruit and Wakayama specialties, and choose your favorite dishes such as sushi, sashimi or grilled seafood for lunch. Lunch is not included.

Admire the coastal views of Senjojiki and Sandanbeki

At Senjojiki, Pacific waves have carved the sandstone coast over centuries into vast rock formations resembling a thousand tatami mats. Walk across the rock terraces for about 30 minutes and take in the open coastal views.

Next, visit the Sandanbeki Cliffs, rock walls rising 50-60m above the sea. Spend about 40 minutes at the observation point watching the waves crash below and learn about the area's maritime history.

Photograph Engetsu Island and return to Osaka

Engetsu Island, the symbol of Shirahama, has a natural round hole in its center that makes it look like a full moon floating above the sea. After about 20 minutes of photos, ride the bus back to Osaka, about 2.5 hours.
