Program
Ride through the Chianti hills into Tuscany
Depart from Piazzale Montelungo in Florence on a coach equipped with Wi-Fi, USB ports and air conditioning. Chianti, stretching between Florence and Siena, is a hilly area of cypress trees, vineyards and olive groves, and the home of Chianti Classico wine. Enjoy the Tuscan countryside through the window as you head to your first stop.
See Piazza del Campo and the Cathedral in Siena
You will have about 110 minutes of free time in Siena. Piazza del Campo, shaped like a scallop shell, is famous as the setting of the Palio, the traditional horse race held every summer, and the Palazzo Pubblico and the tall Torre del Mangia stand beside it. You can visit Siena Cathedral, decorated in black-and-white striped marble, or enjoy a coffee at a local cafe. If you choose the Siena audio guide option, you can explore the medieval city center while listening to commentary.
San Gimignano, the town of medieval towers
Travel along the scenic roads of Chianti to San Gimignano, where you will have about 2 hours of free time. San Gimignano is a hill town where stone towers built in the Middle Ages rise above the village, and its historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll the medieval alleys, browse artisan shops, taste its renowned gelato and enjoy the panoramic view over the hills below.
Premium wine tasting (optional)
If you choose an option that includes wine tasting, you will travel with an English-speaking tour leader and taste premium wines, including Brunello di Montalcino, a leading Tuscan red wine. When the tour ends, the coach returns to Piazzale Montelungo.
