At the museum, skip the ticket line and start with Pit 1, the largest of the three. See the unique faces, hairstyles, armor and weapons of more than 6,000 life-size warriors made 2,000 years ago. In Pit 2, see kneeling archers, generals, cavalry and chariots along with ongoing excavation and restoration work, then finish at Pit 3, believed to be the army's command post.

Over about 2.5 hours, your guide highlights key details, from the ranks of the warriors to the discovery of the army by local farmers in 1974.

with a local family

After the museum, drive about 15 minutes to a nearby village to visit a local family. In a home with a traditional courtyard, sip jasmine tea and enjoy a homemade lunch of Shaanxi specialties. With your guide interpreting, chat with the family about daily life and food traditions and get a glimpse of village life.
