This full-day tour of about 9 hours picks you up from your accommodation in Luang Prabang, takes you along the Mekong River by longtail boat to the Pak Ou Caves, and continues by van to Kuang Si Falls. An English-speaking guide accompanies you, and you enjoy a buffet lunch at a restaurant overlooking the Mekong. Choose between a group tour and a private tour.

The upstream option visits the Pak Ou Caves by boat in the morning and Kuang Si Falls in the afternoon. The downstream option visits Kuang Si Falls in the morning and cruises to the Pak Ou Caves in the afternoon, including sunset.

Stop at Ban Xang Hai, the whisky village

Pass local villages and fishing communities while enjoying views of the Mekong from the water. After about an hour, the boat makes a short stop at Ban Xang Hai, known as the "whisky village". Walk around the village, see how Lao Lao rice whisky is made and taste the finished product.

Explore the Pak Ou Caves
with more than 4,000 Buddha statues

From a small boat landing, climb the stairs straight up to the caves. Set in limestone cliffs, the Pak Ou Caves have long been used as a Buddhist place of worship, and the two caves hold more than 4,000 Buddha images. Afterwards, enter the Nam Ou River to see the limestone cliffs, then cruise about 30 minutes along the Mekong to Manifa Elephant Camp for a buffet lunch at a restaurant overlooking the river and elephants.

Enjoy 2 hours of free time at Kuang Si Falls

Travel by van to the three-tiered Kuang Si Falls and spend 2 hours at your own pace. Walk the trails of the nature reserve, swim in the turquoise pools and visit the Tat Kuang Si Bear Rescue Centre. On the way back, stop briefly at Ban Na Ouan Hmong village before drop-off at your hotel in town.
