Canyoning (gorge descent) is exactly what it sounds like: making your way down a river gorge with just your own body. Meet your guide at Uehara Port or your hotel in the Uehara area, ride the PiPi vehicle to the site, and once you are ready, start by getting used to the water temperature.

Gear up with a life jacket and helmet and go with the flow

You wear a life jacket, helmet and special shoes throughout. Even if you are not confident in the water, just let the current carry you and your life jacket keeps you afloat. Most participants are first-timers, and your guide is right by your side.

Cross natural playground rocks and jump into waterfall pools

The tiers of waterfalls and rocks form a natural playground. Slide down the rocks and take a big leap when you spot a waterfall pool. There are also lower jump spots for those afraid of heights. Photos taken by your guide during the tour are provided free of charge.

Take in the sea and mountains from the Omija Road Park observation deck

After the water activity, head to the Omija Road Park observation deck for a panoramic view of Iriomote's sea and mountains. Take commemorative photos against scenery that changes with the tides and weather, then return to Uehara Port. Guests who used hotel pickup are dropped off at their hotel.
