Hear the story of a
200 km underground network

Construction started in 1948 when the Viet Minh needed somewhere to hide from French air attacks, and by 1965 the complex was estimated to stretch about 200 km. It included hospitals, schools, meeting rooms, kitchens and sleeping quarters, with booby traps laid throughout. Today about 75 km is preserved as a memorial park.

Venture into the tunnels

Some sections have been widened and fitted with low-powered lights so visitors can pass through. Walk past huge bomb craters, hidden entrances right beneath your feet and tiny chimneys that dispersed smoke from underground kitchens, sample the simple food local fighters survived on, and then explore the tunnels yourself.
