Program
Head to the Al Khatim Desert
by 4WD from Your Accommodation
Set off in a clean, well-maintained 4×4 from your accommodation or a designated spot within Abu Dhabi city limits. After about 45 minutes the cityscape gradually gives way to golden desert. The Al Khatim Desert lies east of central Abu Dhabi, with fine, reddish sand dunes stretching endlessly.
Dune Bashing over the Sand Dunes
On arrival, an experienced desert driver takes you up and down the dunes for about 40 minutes of thrilling dune bashing. Stop at scenic spots along the way to take photos against the desert backdrop.
Camel Ride, Sandboarding and Desert Camp Activities
At the desert camp, visit a camel farm and enjoy a short camel ride. Climb to the top of a dune near the camp to take in the view, then slide down on a sandboard. You are welcomed with Arabic coffee, tea and dates, and can try on traditional Arabic dress, pose with a falcon and get a henna tattoo.
Sunset, BBQ Buffet and Tanoura & Fire Shows
After watching the sun set over the desert, enjoy an open BBQ buffet of Arabic and international dishes at the camp, with unlimited soft drinks and water. Under the night sky, watch a spinning tanoura dance, belly dance and a dazzling fire show, and relax with shisha while stargazing. You then return to your accommodation.
※ With the quad bike option, you can ride a quad bike for 10 minutes.
※ Dance shows do not take place during Ramadan and Islamic holidays.
