Ishigaki Night Jungle Walking Tour & Stargazing

Walk the jungle at night
and look for Ishigaki's nocturnal wildlife

Meet your guide at Euglena Ishigaki Port Remote Island Terminal and check in, then drive about 30 minutes to a jungle on the west side of Ishigaki Island. It is a natural spot known for its rich ecosystem and low light pollution.

Explore subtropical forest trails by flashlight

On arrival, your guide hands out flashlights and the necessary equipment and gives a short safety briefing. You then walk slowly for about 1 hour along subtropical forest trails filled with the sounds of insects and rustling leaves.

Your guide uses local knowledge to help you find wildlife. You may meet the coconut crab, one of the largest land arthropods in the world, as well as geckos, insects and other creatures that only come out after dark. The tour moves at a relaxed pace, so it suits both children and adults.

Gaze at stars in a sky with little light pollution

Ishigaki lies within Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park, Japan's first International Dark Sky Place. Far from city lights, you can see a sky full of stars when the weather is good. After the tour, you return to the meeting point by car.
