Enjoy the scenery of Lapland on the way to Abisko
The drive from Kiruna to Abisko is a highlight in itself. You will pass mountain views and wide open moorland, and depending on the season you may see frozen lakes.
Walk along Abisko Canyon and the Silver Waterfall
Stop at Abisko Canyon, carved by the Abiskojokk river. You can walk along the edge of the canyon or go down to see the river flow between steep rock walls.
The Silver Waterfall near Björkliden drops over a rock ledge. It is partly frozen in winter and flows fully in summer.
See Lapporten and have lunch outdoors
From a scenic viewpoint you can see Lapporten, the U-shaped valley known as the Gateway to Lapland.
A local Swedish lunch is prepared outdoors or in a simple setting. It is usually a fish dish or a vegetarian meal, with coffee and tea during the break, and sometimes around an outdoor fire.
