Highlights
This 3-hour walking tour with a guide explores landmarks along Fukuoka's western waterfront. Hear about Japanese baseball culture at PayPay Dome, home of the SoftBank Hawks, and take photos with the sea and tower in the background at Fukuoka Tower and Momochi Seaside Park. Program
Start at Tojinmachi Station
and head to PayPay Dome
Meet your guide at Tojinmachi subway station, stop at the large MARK IS Fukuoka Momochi mall (about 20 minutes), then visit PayPay Dome, home of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. Hear how popular baseball is in Japan and about its unique cheering culture.
Walk around Fukuoka Tower and Momochi Beach
Photograph the exterior of Fukuoka Tower, symbol of the modern waterfront (observation deck not included), and learn about Japanese TV and wedding culture as you pass TNC TV Nishinippon and the wedding halls around Marizon. Then stroll the sandy beach of Seaside Momochi Beach Park and enjoy views of the sea and tower.
Discover Sazae-san Street and daily life in Nishijin
From the beach park, move on to Nishijin and walk Sazae-san Street, linked to the beloved anime "Sazae-san". Hear how author Machiko Hasegawa named her characters while walking this coast, explore everyday Nishijin with its shops and students, and finish near Nishijin Station.
