A day trip from Naha to Kume Island, one of Okinawa's quieter islands, by the high-speed Ocean Jet in about 1 hour 30 minutes. Program
Cross the sea from Naha
to Kume Island by Ocean Jet
Check in at the Naha Port passenger terminal at 7:30 AM and depart on the Ocean Jet at 8:00 AM. Watch Okinawa's coastline give way to open sea during the roughly 1 hour 30 minute ride to Kume Island.
Take a glass-bottom boat to the Hatenohama sandbar
On arrival at Kume Island, a short transfer and a 20-minute glass-bottom boat ride take you to the Hatenohama sandbar. Hatenohama is an uninhabited white-sand beach about 7 km long, surrounded by clear turquoise water and accessible only by boat. Sea turtles live in the waters around the sandbar, so you may spot them through the glass bottom on the way. Beach parasols and chairs are available to rent.
Standard Plan — explore Kume Island freely
After about 1 hour on the Hatenohama sandbar, enjoy free time to explore Kume Island at your own pace. You can visit spots such as Eef Beach, the Tatami-ishi rock formation and Ojima Island.
Adventure Plan — enjoy snorkeling and a sea scooter
Go boat snorkeling with an instructor in the clear waters of Hatenohama and glide easily over the water on a sea scooter (an electric snorkeling board) while observing the underwater world. A bento lunch, snorkeling gear and life jacket are included. At the end of the day, depart Kume Island on the Ocean Jet at 4:00 PM and arrive at Naha Port at 5:30 PM.
※ The glass-bottom boat departure time and time spent at Hatenohama may be adjusted on the day depending on the tide.
※ Sea turtles are wild animals, so sightings are not guaranteed.
