Kyoto Yamazaki Whisky Museum & Asahi Group Oyamazaki Villa Museum of Art Half-Day Tour

An art walk starting in Oyamazaki

This tour is a small group walking tour, not a private one. You'll travel with other participants and efficiently explore two of Oyamazaki's most iconic spots. First, meet with KTIC Friends (English-speaking staff at the Kyoto Tourist Information Center) at Hankyu Oyamazaki Station, then walk to the Asahi Group Oyamazaki Sanso Museum of Art. With a collection of approximately 1,000 pieces, including ceramics, lacquerware, dyed art, Japanese paintings, Western paintings, and modern sculptures, you'll enjoy a variety of exhibits. Monet's Water Lilies series is a particular highlight. The combination of the main building (over 100 years old) and the new Tadao Ando-designed building offers a unique sense of space, making it a great place to enjoy both the artwork and a stroll through the gardens.
Afterwards, head to the Suntory Yamazaki Whisky Museum, where you can learn about the history and story of whisky through exhibits and panels, and purchase souvenirs at the gift shop. At the Tasting Lounge, you can order and taste three different whiskies (for an additional fee). Last order is at 4:30 PM. Please note that this tour does not include a tour of the distillery and focuses on the museum. Since this is a walking course that includes a section of mountain path, comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended.

• 2:00 PM Walk (approximately 15 minutes) → Asahi Group Oyamazaki Mountain Villa Museum of Art

• 14:15 Visit the art museum (approximately 45 minutes)

• 15:00 Walk (approximately 25 minutes) → Suntory Yamazaki Whisky Museum

• 3:30 PM Tasting/Shopping (approximately 75 minutes) *Lounge last order 4:30 PM

• 16:45 Walk (approximately 15 minutes) → Hankyu Oyamazaki Station

• 17:00 Disband at Hankyu Oyamazaki Station
