Depart Port Douglas
along the Captain Cook Highway
In the morning, you are picked up from your accommodation in Port Douglas or the Northern Beaches and travel in comfort. Drive along the coastal Captain Cook Highway while your guide shares stories about the region's history, local life and wildlife.
Ride up to Kuranda
by scenic train or Skyrail

With the train option, board the Kuranda Scenic Railway at Freshwater Station and travel through the rainforest past waterfalls and through 15 tunnels carved into the rock (about 1.5 hours).
With the Skyrail option, use the Barron Falls Loop ticket to ride a gondola from Kuranda to Barron Falls and back. Enjoy the views, join a guided rainforest walk and explore interpretive and historical displays. Free entry to the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary is also included.
Browse the arts and crafts markets of Kuranda

Spend about 2 hours of free time in Kuranda, the "village in the rainforest" known for its daily arts and crafts markets. Browse Aboriginal crafts, handmade leather goods, woodwork and jewelry, have lunch at a café while watching street performers, or taste local treats such as macadamia nuts, honey, mango wine, homemade fudge and ice cream (at your own expense).
Stop at Palm Cove before returning

Travel along the coast to Palm Cove and stroll the palm-lined esplanade, or buy a drink and enjoy the beach views during a break of about 30 minutes (drinks at your own expense). Then return to Port Douglas, where you are dropped off at your accommodation or a restaurant on request.
※ From 20 August to 24 October 2026, due to maintenance, the Skyrail operates only the Kuranda–Barron Falls return loop instead of the full route.
※ The itinerary is for reference only and may change depending on local conditions.
