From Port Douglas: Kuranda Skyrail & Scenic Railway Tour - Hotel Pickup

Depart Port Douglas
for the rainforest village of Kuranda

You are picked up from your accommodation in Port Douglas, Palm Cove, Clifton Beach, Trinity Beach or Kewarra Beach. Choose an 8 AM departure or a later 11 AM pickup. Travel in an air-conditioned vehicle along the Captain Cook Highway, then head into the World Heritage-listed rainforest and the mountain village of Kuranda.

Ride a gondola on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway over the rainforest, enjoying the views and photo opportunities (about 75 minutes). Skip the ticket line.

From 20 August to 24 October 2026, the full Cairns–Kuranda Skyrail journey does not operate due to a major upgrade. During this period, the tour includes the Barron Falls Loop Experience from Kuranda, a return gondola ride to Barron Falls Station. Take in views of the Barron Gorge, join a rainforest walk guided by a Skyrail ranger and explore interactive and historical displays. Free entry to the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary in Kuranda is also included.

Enjoy about 2 hours of free time in Kuranda village. Stroll and shop among the colorful arts and crafts markets, shops and attractions.

Descend by scenic train
and stop at Palm Cove

Board the Kuranda Scenic Railway and travel down the mountain for about 1.5 hours. Pass through hand-carved tunnels and over bridges, taking in the rainforest and waterfalls.

Meet your guide at Freshwater Station and transfer to the beachside village of Palm Cove. Spend about 30 minutes strolling along the beach or enjoying a drink overlooking the Coral Sea (at your own expense), then return to your accommodation.
