From Queenstown: Shotover River White Water Rafting

Depart Queenstown and travel through
Skippers Canyon to the rafting base

Travel by bus from Queenstown to the rafting base, then drive through Skippers Canyon to the rafting launch point. The narrow gravel road winds along the sheer cliffs of the canyon, with stunning views of the Shotover River you are about to raft. At the rafting base, get fitted with a wetsuit, rafting clothing and safety gear, and listen to a detailed safety briefing.

Start at Deep Creek and tackle the Shotover rapids

Your rafting adventure begins at Deep Creek. Float on calm water before entering the Grade 3–5 rapids in the lower canyon, paddling together on your guide's commands. River conditions change daily, but your professionally trained guides will lead you safely through the canyon and rapids.

Finish by paddling through the 167 m Oxenbridge Tunnel

Finish your adventure by paddling through the darkness of the historic 167-metre Oxenbridge Tunnel and over the Cascade Rapid. Return to the rafting base for a hot shower before heading back to Queenstown.
