This day tour from Tokyo explores the volcanic landscapes and coastal scenery of the Izu Peninsula in one day. On the summit of Mt. Omuro, shaped like an upside-down matcha bowl, walk the crater trail and enjoy 360-degree views of Sagami Bay and the Izu mountains. Ride the Kurofune or Kinmedai sightseeing train along the Pacific coast, and cross the Kadowaki Suspension Bridge on the Jogasaki Coast. The Izu coastal train fare and transportation are included, and your driver-guide leads the tour in English.

Enjoy 360-degree panoramas
from the summit of Mt. Omuro
Depart Tokyo early in the morning and drive about 3 hours to the Izu Plateau. Your first stop is Mt. Omuro, formed by a volcanic eruption. It resembles an upside-down matcha bowl and changes color with the seasons.
Ride the ropeway to the summit and walk along the crater trail, taking in 360-degree views of Sagami Bay and the Izu mountains. The ropeway fare (1,000 JPY round trip) is not included and must be paid on site.
See the cactus garden and cute animals

At Izu Shaboten Zoo at the foot of Mt. Omuro, explore the cactus and succulent garden and meet cute animals such as capybaras up close. You spend about 1.5 hours each at Mt. Omuro and the zoo. Zoo admission (2,500 JPY) is not included.
Ride a sightseeing train along the Pacific coast

The highlight of the tour is the Izu coastal train experience. Board the Kurofune or Kinmedai sightseeing train and ride for about 23 minutes along the Pacific coast from Izu-Kogen Station to Izu-Inatori Station. The sea spreads out beyond the panoramic windows, and on the roughly 5-minute stretch between Katase-Shirata and Izu-Inatori stations, the waves feel almost within reach.
Cross the suspension bridge on the Jogasaki Coast

Next, head to the Jogasaki Coast, formed by ancient volcanic lava, and spend about 40 minutes there. Walk along the rugged coastline and cross the Kadowaki Suspension Bridge, looking down at emerald waves crashing against the rocks. After the tour, drive about 3 hours back to Tokyo.
