Experience an authentic tea ceremony in a Japanese-style room inside a building registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan in Asakusa, Tokyo. Choose your tea sweets and a matcha bowl you like, then enjoy matcha and sweets while watching a tea ceremony demonstration. You also learn how to prepare matcha and make it yourself. Sessions are held in English and Japanese for up to 7 participants, and you can choose a 45-minute or 60-minute session.

Experience a tea ceremony in a Japanese room
inside a cultural property building

The tea ceremony takes place in the Japanese-style room of Wasako, located inside the Saryo Ichimatsu restaurant in Asakusa. Sessions start at 10:00, 11:30, 13:30 and 15:00, and you can choose a 45-minute or 60-minute session.

Choose your sweets and matcha bowl, then watch a demonstration

First, choose your tea ceremony sweets and the matcha bowl you will use. Each bowl has a unique design, and each one is explained individually. Enjoy sweets and matcha while watching a tea ceremony demonstration, with explanations of the hanging scroll, furnishings and the history of the tea ceremony as needed.

Make your own matcha and take photos

Learn how to prepare matcha and then make your own. Ichimatsu is a building registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan, so there are many great spots for memorable photos.
