Highlights
Experience traditional Japanese calligraphy with a professional calligraphy instructor at a studio in Shinjuku, Tokyo. When you arrive at the Shinjuku studio, change into traditional Japanese work clothes to begin. Grind a solid ink stick to make authentic ink, slow down, and focus on the quiet rhythm of brush and ink.
Learn brush strokes from a professional instructor
Guided by a professional calligraphy instructor, practice basic brush strokes and learn how to write beautiful Japanese characters. All tools and materials, including brushes, ink, paper, and practice sheets, are provided, and the class and support are in English.
Write your name in kanji to finish your piece
Finally, turn your name into kanji and create your own original calligraphy piece. Take it home as a souvenir of your time in Japan.
If you choose the "Workshop + Scroll or T-shirt" option, you can turn your favorite piece into a Japanese-style scroll or an original T-shirt. You can also browse a variety of Japanese souvenirs at the studio.
