Leave Sapporo and see volcanoes, lakes and coastline
in one day
This day tour by bus departs from Sapporo Tokyu REI Hotel or Sapporo TV Tower. An English- and Japanese-speaking guide accompanies you as you visit Noboribetsu, Cape Chikyu, Lake Toya, Mt. Usu, Showa-Shinzan and Lake Shikotsu in turn. At each stop you will have time for photos, sightseeing and free exploration.
Walk through the volcanic landscape of Noboribetsu Jigokudani

The first stop is Noboribetsu Jigokudani, one of Hokkaido's best-known natural attractions. For about 35 minutes, follow the walking trail past steaming craters and bubbling hot springs to see the volcanic terrain up close.
Gaze at the ocean and Lake Toya from Cape Chikyu and the Silo Observatory

Next, stop for about 25 minutes at Cape Chikyu, a coastal lookout known for its sea views. On clear days the horizon appears curved, which gave the cape its name, "Cape Earth." You will then spend about 30 minutes at the Silo Observatory, enjoying the view of Lake Toya, Nakajima Island and the surrounding mountains, with time for shopping as well.
Visit Mt. Usu and Showa-Shinzan, then finish at Lake Shikotsu

You will have about 80 minutes of free time in the area around the active volcano Mt. Usu. If you wish, ride the ropeway (at your own expense) for views over Lake Toya and the surrounding volcanic landscape. After about 20 minutes at Showa-Shinzan, relax with a 35-minute stroll along the shore of Lake Shikotsu. The tour ends at Sapporo TV Tower and Sapporo Tokyu REI Hotel.
