Leave Sapporo Station to see a Buddha, a gorge, a lake and a volcano
in one day
This shared shuttle tour departs at 8:20 a.m. from the group bus stop near the North Exit of Sapporo Station. With a driver-guide who speaks English, Chinese and Japanese, you will visit the Hill of the Buddha, Jozankei, Lake Toya, Showa-Shinzan and Mt. Usu, and Noboribetsu Jigokudani, returning to the North Exit of Sapporo Station at around 6:00 p.m.
Discover the Hill of the Buddha designed by Tadao Ando

Spend about 40 minutes at the Hill of the Buddha in Makomanai Takino Cemetery. After passing a water garden and a 40 m concrete tunnel, the head of a 13.5 m stone Buddha appears above a lavender-planted dome. In summer, about 150,000 lavender plants cover the hill. Admission to the Buddha hall (JPY 1,000, free for elementary school children and younger) is included only in the "Hill of the Buddha admission" option; if you book the tour only, you can pay on site.
Walk the Jozankei gorge and look out over Lake Toya

At Futami Park in the Jozankei hot spring area, spend about 40 minutes walking along the Toyohira River gorge, crossing the Futami Suspension Bridge and finding the kappa statue that symbolizes Jozankei. Then enjoy about 30 minutes at the Lake Toya observatory, overlooking the caldera lake, Nakajima Island, and Mt. Usu and Showa-Shinzan beyond.
On the shore of Lake Toya you will have about 70 minutes for lunch at your own expense. Nearby you can try seafood rice bowls, ramen, tonkatsu, curry and set meals, and take a walk along the promenade after eating.
Enjoy the bear ranch or the Mt. Usu Ropeway
and walk through Noboribetsu Hell Valley

During a 60-minute stop at the foot of Showa-Shinzan, choose either the bear ranch, where you can watch and feed Hokkaido brown bears, or the Mt. Usu Ropeway for views over Lake Toya. Both are optional and paid on site. Never feed the bears your own food.
Finally, spend about 40 minutes at Noboribetsu Jigokudani walking the trails between steaming vents and sulfurous streams. The paths can be wet and slippery, so wear sturdy shoes and stay on the walkways.
※ The order and timing of stops may be adjusted depending on traffic, weather and local conditions. If a major part of the itinerary is changed or canceled, you can receive a full refund.
※ The lavender blooms in July and the scenery varies by season. The tour runs regardless of whether the lavender is in bloom.
※ Lake views may not be visible depending on the weather, and scenery is not guaranteed.
