This day tour departs Sapporo at a relaxed 11:00 AM, visits eight scenic spots in Hokkaido and ends in the evening with Natsu-Touro, the seasonal illumination event in Jozankei Onsen town. See the Hill of the Buddha designed by Tadao Ando and Lake Shikotsu, famous for its clear water, then taste spring water at Fukidashi Park and dairy treats at Niseko Takahashi Dairy Farm with Mount Yotei in the background. Enjoy lush summer scenery or the colors of the autumn foliage season. Finally, stroll for about 90 minutes through Jozankei Onsen town, lit up with lanterns and lights.

Program

Depart Sapporo in the late morning
and visit eight scenic spots in Hokkaido

Meet at Exit 31 of Sapporo Odori Station at 10:50 AM and depart at 11:00 AM. Your first stop is the Hill of the Buddha, where you spend about 30 minutes. The giant Buddha designed by renowned architect Tadao Ando blends into the hill, and the statue gradually comes into view as you pass the pond garden and walk through the tunnel. During the lavender season in July, you may see it surrounded by purple lavender. Admission (about 1,000 JPY per adult) is paid separately on site.

See clear Lake Shikotsu and the scenery of Mount Yotei

Drive along the scenic road known for its beautiful "Shikotsu Blue" and spend about 40 minutes at Lake Shikotsu. Its water is exceptionally clear and looks beautifully blue on sunny days, surrounded by forests and mountains. Then enjoy a scenic drive with views of Mount Yotei for about 5 minutes (no stop) and take a 25-minute break at Kinoko Kingdom, a roadside rest stop famous for mushroom miso soup and local products.

Taste Mount Yotei spring water and farm treats

At Kyogoku Fukidashi Park, spend about 30 minutes at the crystal-clear spring where snowmelt from Mount Yotei is naturally filtered underground. Selected as one of Japan's 100 best waters, you can collect and taste the spring water for free. At Niseko Takahashi Dairy Farm, spend about 50 minutes enjoying ice cream, pudding and other treats made with farm-fresh milk, and on clear days take in views of Mount Yotei and the countryside. At Nakayama Pass, spend about 15 minutes enjoying views of Mount Yotei and trying age-imo, deep-fried battered potatoes on a skewer.

Stroll through lantern-lit Jozankei Natsu-Touro

Finally, enjoy Natsu-Touro in Jozankei for about 90 minutes. This seasonal night illumination event runs from summer to autumn, with Japanese lanterns and light displays set up around Jozankei Onsen and its walking paths. Stroll through the softly glowing hot spring town and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of a Hokkaido evening.

※ The night area of Jozankei Shrine is open only to guests of designated accommodations and is not included in this tour. Other Natsu-Touro display areas can be visited freely.
