Tours & activities worldwide.
This bus tour from Sapporo covers Hokkaido's volcanic landscapes and hot spring towns in one day, from Noboribetsu Hell Valley to Lake Toya and Jozankei Onsen. Walk among the sulfur-scented craters of Hell Valley, then choose between the Mt. Usu Ropeway and the Showa-Shinzan Bear Park. Admire Lake Toya, which does not freeze even in winter, along with views of Mt. Yotei from Lake Hill Farm and the Silo Observatory, before relaxing at a free footbath in Jozankei. A guide accompanies you in Chinese, English and Japanese.

Depart Sapporo and
walk through Noboribetsu Hell Valley
Board the bus in central Sapporo at 7:50 or 8:00 AM and head straight to Noboribetsu. Arriving around 9:50 AM, you will visit Noboribetsu Hell Valley, the source of Noboribetsu Onsen. This crater, about 450 m across and formed by the eruption of Mt. Hiyori, is dotted with countless fumaroles releasing hot gas and spring water. Its barren, sulfur-scented landscape earned it the name Jigokudani (Hell Valley).
Choose the Mt. Usu Ropeway or the Showa-Shinzan Bear Park

Around 11:30 AM, choose between the Mt. Usu Ropeway and the Showa-Shinzan Bear Park. Mt. Usu is an active volcano that erupted four times in the 20th century alone; ride the ropeway for panoramic views of the lake and mountains and see traces of eruptions up close.
At the Showa-Shinzan Bear Park, you can feed and observe Hokkaido brown bears up close. Both options require a separate fee.
Visit Lake Toya, Lake Hill Farm and the Silo Observatory

Around 1:20 PM, arrive at Lake Toya, a caldera lake that does not freeze even in winter. Hot spring inns line the shore, and free foot and hand baths can be found around the town.
Next, stop at Lake Hill Farm, a hilltop dairy farm and cafe, to enjoy gelato made with milk from the farm's own cows while viewing Mt. Yotei, known as Ezo Fuji. From the Silo Observatory on the cliffs above Lake Toya, on clear days you can see a panorama of the national park including Lake Toya, Mt. Usu, Showa-Shinzan and Mt. Yotei.
Relax at a Jozankei footbath and return to Sapporo

Around 4:40 PM, visit Jozankei, a hot spring town founded in 1866 by a monk named Jozan. Take a break at one of the free footbaths along the town's walking paths and soak up the atmosphere. The bus then returns to Sapporo, arriving around 6:00 PM (tentative).
