Mimi and Coco were our guides and they were amazing. Explained everything to use with detail . Selection to choose from and some at extra cost, Japan coin rings are extra as they are older model coins but we opted for other coins for longer lasting. Fine experience. We also opted for the matte finish and engraving (extra cost).

I imagine this would ordinarily be a great activity, sadly, there were a couple of issues with our visit. The main one being, the coin I selected ended up being too big to fit into the machine to make it smaller. So in the end I left with a ring that wasn't the right shape and is too big to wear. Disappointing, but not the fault of our instructor, Mayumi, who was extremely apologetic and did everything she could to help - she even offered me to select a new coin and try again, but there was an issue with the second coin which meant I couldn't use the side/face of the coin I wanted for the design on the outside. In the end we ran out of time, but my wife and her parents each made rings that they were happy with. I just couldn't understand how I wound up in that scenario when they provided the coins, but apparently no one had chosen that coin to use before.

This hands-on workshop welcomes up to 6 participants. An experienced English-speaking instructor guides you step by step as you turn an authentic vintage coin from Japan or abroad into a ring. A vintage coin for one ring and all tools and equipment are included.

Shape the metal with professional tools

In the cozy studio, use professional tools to shape the coin into a ring, then polish and refine it. Along the way, you can also learn about elements of Japanese craftsmanship and its precise handwork.

Choose a finish and complete your own ring

Choose a finish from basic texture and polishing to create a ring that reflects your style and story. Take your finished ring home as a keepsake of your time in Japan.
