Meet your guide at Chushojima Station and start walking through the streets of Fushimi. Fushimi is one of Japan's leading sake regions, known for sake brewed with mineral-rich water. Your guide shows you historic sites from the late Edo period (Bakumatsu) and tells the story of Fushimi as a logistics hub that carried people, sake and rice to and from Osaka from the Edo period to the end of the Meiji period.

Explore the Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum
of Gekkeikan, founded in 1637

Enjoy a guided tour of about 35 minutes at the Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum and learn in detail about centuries-old sake-making methods and the production process. Here you taste a set of three sakes and receive a souvenir sake cup.

Stop by Kizakura Kappa Country
and Fushimi Sakagura Koji

Taste a glass of Kyoto beer at Kizakura Kappa Country, where Kizakura first made its local beer. Then spend about 25 minutes at Fushimi Sakagura Koji, created with the support of 17 breweries of the Fushimi Sake Brewers Association. If you like, you can also order a drink set comparing 17 kinds of sake there at your own expense.

Finish with sake ice cream and tastings
at Yume Hyakushu and Aburacho

Try sake ice cream at Fushimi Yume Hyakushu, a café in Gekkeikan's former headquarters building built in the Taisho period. Finally, enjoy a set of three sakes for about 40 minutes at Ginjo Shubo Aburacho, where the tour ends.
