Its structure, held together by interlocking wooden mortise-and-tenon joints, is a highlight of ancient Chinese architecture.

Experience the echoes at the Echo Wall

The Echo Wall, the circular wall surrounding the Imperial Vault of Heaven, carries sound along its surface. Stand by the east and west buildings and whisper into the wall, and the other person can hear your voice clearly. On the Three Echo Stones in front of the Imperial Vault of Heaven, you can clap your hands and hear the sound echo three times.

Climb the Circular Mound Altar of the winter solstice ceremony

Finally, visit the Circular Mound Altar, where the winter solstice ceremony was held. It is a three-tiered round altar of white marble, and its stone slabs and balustrades all come in multiples of nine. Stand on the Heart of Heaven Stone in the center and speak loudly to hear your voice resonate, reflecting the idea of resonance between Heaven and humanity.
