The Japan KDDI 5G eSIM provides high-speed data with a Japanese local IP. Choose your plan, then install and use it in the order below.

Plan 1: Daily 100GB high-speed data

• Enjoy full-speed internet, social media, video and overseas apps every day with no throttling.
• Hotspot sharing: Hotspot data is included based on your selected plan duration. Check the plan details before purchase.
• Duration: 3–30 days
• The 30-day plan includes 1 extra day (31 days in total). The extra day starts automatically with plan usage.

Plan 2: Daily 100GB · Unlimited at up to 10Mbps

• Enjoy unlimited data every day at a maximum speed of 10Mbps.
• Hotspot sharing: Hotspot data is included based on your plan duration.
• Duration: 3–10 days

• Choose from 4 days 12GB, 7 days 21GB or 10 days 30GB in total.

Installing eSIM

Method 1: Install directly in the Trip.com app

• Trip.com app > Account > All Orders > select the order > tap "Install".
• If installation fails, follow Method 2 below.

Method 2: Install via QR code or manual entry

• Step 1: Find the QR code in your Trip.com order attachment or confirmation email and save or print it, or display it on another device (iOS 17.4+ lets you save the QR image on your phone and install directly).
• Step 2: Open network settings. iOS: Settings > Cellular / Android: SIM card management
• Step 3: Connect to Wi-Fi and install. iOS: Add Cellular Plan > Scan QR Code / Android: Add SIM in SIM Management > Scan QR Code
• Step 4: If the QR scan fails, enter the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code from your order confirmation.
• If Steps 3 or 4 fail, your phone may be carrier-locked. Contact your carrier to unlock it.

Using eSIM

After installation and arrival in Japan:

• Turn off your primary SIM and enable the eSIM in network settings.
• Turn on cellular data (iOS/Android).
• Enable data roaming.
• If the internet doesn't work, make sure data roaming is on, reset the APN and restart your phone.
• We recommend installing the eSIM on the day of departure and switching to it on arrival in Japan.
• Please avoid hotspot sharing to maintain network quality.
• Internet speed may vary due to terrain, weather, buildings and user volume. Contact tech support if reception is unstable.

APN settings

• For eSIMs covering multiple countries, switch the APN manually if connectivity fails while traveling (usually automatic).
• iOS: Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Network > select eSIM > Mobile Data Network
• Android: Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network > select eSIM > Access Point Names (APN) > Create/Edit APN
• Enter APN: au.5g.au-net.ne.jp, then restart your phone

Billing & validity

• All plans are billed by calendar day in Japan time (GMT+9).
• Example: Activate a 4-day plan at 10:00 on Oct 1 > Day 1 ends at 23:59 on Oct 1 > the plan expires at 23:59 on Oct 4.
• If you install the eSIM before departure, billing starts automatically when you arrive in Japan.
