This activity tour lets you enjoy kayaking on the Nam Song River and cave tubing in Vang Vieng, Laos, in one day. After a safety briefing from an English-speaking guide, you'll kayak down the Nam Song River surrounded by mountains and green riverside scenery. At Tham Non Cave, you'll float through the cave on a tube and hear from your guide about the cave's history during the Second Indochina War. Enjoy a picnic lunch wrapped in banana leaves and visit Tham Nang Fa (Angel Cave), known for its beautiful stalactites. Depending on the option, you can add a zipline or the Blue Lagoon.
Program
Start the day with hotel pickup
and kayaking on the Nam Song River
After pickup from your hotel in central Vang Vieng, depart from the Wonderful Tours office and travel about 10 km north of Vang Vieng to Ban Vieng Sa Mai, a Khmu village. Here your guide teaches you the basics of kayaking and safety rules before you paddle down the Nam Song River. Along the way you'll enjoy green riverside scenery and mountains, with plenty of fun rapids.
Float through Tham Non Cave on a tube
When you reach Tham Non Cave (Sleeping Cave) on the riverbank, your guide explains the cave's history and the role it played when Laos was drawn into the Second Indochina War. Then you'll float through the cave on a tube and come out on the other side of the mountain.
Enjoy a riverside picnic lunch and visit Angel Cave
After the cave, enjoy a picnic lunch wrapped in banana leaves. You can order drinks separately at the riverside bar and take in views of the mountains and the Nam Song River while you eat. After lunch, your guide takes you to Tham Nang Fa (Angel Cave), where stalactites and stalagmites shaped like rabbits, elephants and turtles make for great photos.
Kayak back to town
After visiting Angel Cave, kayak back to town to finish the tour. If you choose an option with the zipline or the Blue Lagoon (Huay Ya), you'll also enjoy that activity.
