Leave your hotel and
start kayaking on the Nam Song River
After pickup from your hotel in central Vang Vieng, travel to Vieng Sa Mai, a Khmu village about 10 km north of Vang Vieng. Here, your adventure guide teaches you kayaking basics and safety rules before you set off.
Paddle down the Nam Song River while taking in the green riverside scenery and mountains. On the way to Tham Non Cave (Sleeping Cave) on the riverbank, you pass several fun rapids.
Enjoy tubing and exploring Tham Non Cave
Before entering the cave, your guide shares its history, especially from the time Laos was drawn into the Second Indochina War. Then float into the cave on a tube to admire countless stalactites, and walk out to the other side of the mountain.
Have a BBQ lunch by the river
After the cave, enjoy a picnic BBQ lunch served on banana leaves. You can take in the views of the mountains and the Nam Song River while you eat, and you can also order drinks separately at the riverside bar.
Visit Tham Nang Fa (Angel Cave) and kayak back
After lunch, your guide takes you to Tham Nang Fa (Angel Cave), which was explored relatively recently. Its stalactites and stalagmites in the shapes of animals such as rabbits, elephants and turtles make for great photos. Finally, kayak back to town to finish the tour.
