Iriomote Island Guests Only: Sunrise & Morning Mangrove SUP or Canoe Tour

Enjoy Iriomote's signature activities
from early morning to late morning

This is a set plan for guests staying on Iriomote Island. Enjoy sunrise SUP or canoeing early in the morning, take a break at your accommodation, then enjoy mangrove SUP or canoeing in the morning. Meet your guide at Uehara Port or your accommodation in the Uehara area, travel by vehicle to the activity field, and you will be taken back to Uehara Port or your accommodation afterward.

Set off before dawn and greet the morning sun

The sunrise tour starts in the dim light before the sun rises. Meeting time is around 5:00 in summer and 6:30 in winter. After arriving at the field and getting ready, you will receive a lesson from your guide before setting off. Paddle a SUP or canoe through the quiet morning mangrove forest and enjoy Iriomote's fresh morning air and sunrise views.

The early morning activity ends around 6:20 in summer or 7:45 in winter, and you return to Uehara Port or your accommodation for a short break. The end time varies by season.

Explore the World Natural Heritage mangrove forest in the morning

Around 9:00, meet your guide again at Uehara Port or your accommodation and head to the morning field. From around 9:30 to 11:00, explore the classic mangrove scenery of Iriomote by SUP or canoe. Iriomote's subtropical nature has a unique ecosystem in each field, letting you experience up close the biodiversity recognized as a World Natural Heritage. The tour ends around 11:30 at Uehara Port or your accommodation.

Choose between SUP and canoe

Choose between SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding), a popular new activity around the world, and canoeing, a classic Okinawa activity. With safety gear such as life jackets and a guide by your side, first-timers can enjoy it with peace of mind. SUP is for ages 12-59 and canoeing is for ages 3-65.

※ You will be guided to the best field for the day's wind, tides and crowds, and the tour may take place at sea instead of in the mangroves.
※ Pickups are made at accommodations in turn, so meeting times vary slightly by group.
