Leave your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City
and head to the Mekong Delta
Pickup from your hotel is between 7:00 and 8:00 AM, and your guide will confirm the exact time in advance. Travel for about 2 hours in an air-conditioned minivan or bus past rice fields, pineapple farms, orchards and rural villages. At the first stop, Vinh Trang Pagoda, spend about 30 minutes exploring with your guide and taking photos.
Cross the Mekong River by motorboat in My Tho
Arrive in My Tho around 10:00 AM and board a traditional motorboat along the Mekong River, viewing Dragon, Phoenix and Turtle Islands. On Unicorn Island, visit a bee farm, taste fresh honey tea and stroll along quiet village lanes.
Ride a sampan in the coconut village of Ben Tre
Continue to Ben Tre, famous for coconuts, and watch artisans make coconut candy at a local workshop. Glide along shaded canals in a small sampan, and in the coconut village ride a tuk-tuk or electric car or cycle through a coconut garden.
Enjoy a riverside lunch and traditional music
After a Vietnamese lunch by the river, taste tropical fruit in an orchard garden while enjoying a live folk music performance. Vegetarian meals are available. After the tour, return to My Tho by boat and travel by bus, arriving in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City around 4:30 to 5:00 PM.
