Kyoto Arashiyama Walking Tour - Bamboo Grove, Tenryu-ji & Iwatayama Monkey Park (Admission Included)

Explore Arashiyama on foot
with an English-speaking guide

Meet in front of TULLY'S COFFEE at Randen Arashiyama Station and start the tour with your English-speaking guide. In a group of up to 15 people, you walk to Tenryu-ji, the streets of Arashiyama, the bamboo grove, Nonomiya Shrine and Iwatayama Monkey Park in turn, and return to the meeting point at the end of the tour.

Visit the UNESCO-listed Tenryu-ji and its Zen garden

First, spend about 30 minutes quietly exploring the historic Tenryu-ji Temple and its beautiful Zen garden while listening to your guide. Admission to Tenryu-ji is included. Then walk through the streets of Arashiyama for about 20 minutes and browse local shops for souvenirs.

Stroll the bamboo grove and stop at Nonomiya Shrine

In the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, walk with your guide for about 45 minutes and take time for photos. Next, visit the tranquil Nonomiya Shrine for about 15 minutes and enjoy one matcha ice cream (offered until October 31).

Meet wild monkeys at Iwatayama Monkey Park

Cross the Togetsukyo Bridge, a symbol of Arashiyama, and hike uphill for about 20 minutes to Iwatayama Monkey Park. Spend about an hour watching playful Japanese macaques up close and enjoying panoramic views over Kyoto. Admission to the monkey park is included.

※ In summer, the guide may not accompany guests to the monkey park due to the heat. In that case, the last hour is self-guided and you can explore the park at your own pace.
