Kyoto Arashiyama Bamboo Grove & Tenryuji & Okochi Sanso Walking Tour

Start at Saga-Arashiyama Station
and walk through the bamboo grove

Meet your guide at JR Saga-Arashiyama Station and walk about 15 minutes to the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. Stroll among the towering bamboo stalks, take photos, and stop by nearby Nonomiya Shrine. At the top of the hill in Arashiyama Park, enjoy a sweeping view of the Katsura River and its surroundings.

Visit Okochi Sanso Garden and Tenryuji Temple

Spend about 40 minutes strolling the peaceful, privately owned Okochi Sanso garden, and relax with green tea in the rest area that was once a teahouse. Then visit Tenryuji Temple to explore the grounds and admire the koi in the pond.

Option A: Cross Togetsukyo Bridge and climb to the Monkey Park

Wander along the Arashiyama shopping street and try some snacks, pass the Kimono Forest and Togetsukyo Bridge, and head to Iwatayama Monkey Park. The steep path to the summit takes about 15–20 minutes on foot, and at the top you can meet macaque monkeys and enjoy views over Kyoto. The tour officially ends at the Monkey Park, where you can stay as long as you like.

Option B: Enjoy a local lunch and sake tasting at a brewery

After Tenryuji, return to the station for a short train ride through the mountains. Have lunch at a local restaurant away from the tourist crowds, then visit the Tanzan brewery for a sake tasting.
