After pickup from your accommodation in Hue, travel to the DMZ in an air-conditioned private car. Your English-speaking driver takes you to Hien Luong Bridge, the Ben Hai River and the Vinh Moc Tunnels, where a local guide joins you. Entrance fees, bottled water, fuel, tolls and parking are included.
Visit Hien Luong Bridge and the Ben Hai River
After about 1 hour 15 minutes by car from Hue, arrive at Hien Luong Bridge. Spend about 30 minutes walking across the bridge over the Ben Hai River, which once divided North and South Vietnam, and stop for photos on the riverbank.
Walk through the Vinh Moc Tunnels
Drive about 20 more minutes to the Vinh Moc Tunnels. Your local guide tells you how the tunnels were built, how families lived inside them during the Vietnam War and the strategic importance of this underground network. Spend about an hour walking through the preserved tunnel system.
Return to Hue or continue to Phong Nha or Hoi An
After the tour, drive about 1.5 hours back to Hue. If you choose the Phong Nha or Hoi An option, the same car takes you on to Phong Nha or Hoi An after visiting the tunnels.
