The most scenic section: Mutianyu Great Wall

This well-preserved 2.25 km Ming Dynasty section has 22 densely spaced watchtowers. With over 90% vegetation cover, it shows lush greenery in spring and summer, fiery foliage in autumn and snowy scenes in winter. Ride the cable car or chairlift up, or toboggan down (extra charge).

The “Garden of Gardens”: Summer Palace

China’s largest imperial garden spans 290 hectares, three quarters of it Kunming Lake. See the 728 m Long Corridor with over 14,000 paintings, the Seventeen-Arch Bridge, the Tower of Buddhist Incense on Longevity Hill and the Marble Boat, and learn about Qing royal life.
