From Kathmandu: Nagarkot Sunrise & Changu Narayan Hike

Watch the sun rise over the Himalayas
from the Nagarkot viewpoint

Early in the morning, you are picked up from your hotel in the Kathmandu Valley and drive through peaceful countryside to the sunrise viewpoint in Nagarkot. On clear days, you can see the first rays light up peaks such as Langtang, Ganesh Himal and distant Everest. The exact pickup time is set the day before the tour according to the seasonal sunrise time.

Walk through villages to Changu Narayan Temple

With the sunrise and hiking option, you hike for about 3 hours from Nagarkot to Changu Narayan Temple with an English-speaking guide. Along the way, you pass terraced farms, dense forests and traditional villages for a close look at rural Nepali life. Before the hike, you can also have breakfast at Club Himalaya hotel (at your own cost).

Finish at Changu Narayan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The hike ends at Changu Narayan Temple, one of the oldest temples in the Kathmandu Valley. If you would like to look around the temple, let your guide know in advance (entrance fee not included). After the tour, you are driven back to your hotel in the Kathmandu Valley.

※ Weather in Nagarkot is hard to predict, so the mountains may not be visible at sunrise.
