Enjoy a Himalayan panorama
from the Nagarkot viewpoint
A professional guide picks you up from your hotel by vehicle, and after a scenic drive of about 1.5 hours you reach the Nagarkot viewpoint (2,175m). From the top, enjoy a panorama of the Himalayas including Everest, Gauri Shankar, Dorje Lakpa, Langtang and Ganesh Himal, and take a short break with tea or coffee at a local teahouse.
Walk through rural villages to Changu
After a short 10-minute drive, start the hike of about 3 hours toward Changu Narayan. The trail mixes flat sections and gentle climbs, ending with a gentle descent. Pass seasonal farms, farmers herding goats and a traditional local distillery to see everyday rural life in Nepal, and stop at a peaceful Hindu temple along the way.
Explore Changu Narayan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
When you arrive in Changu village, have lunch at a local restaurant and then explore Changu Narayan Temple. Take your time admiring ancient Nepali stone and wood carvings and statues depicting gods and goddesses, then return to your hotel by vehicle.
Routes that vary by option
With the suspension bridge option, after viewing the mountains from Nagarkot Tower you drive about 20 minutes, walk about 25m downhill to cross a suspension bridge, and then continue to Changu Narayan Temple. Sunrise and sunset tour options are also available. The sunset tour starts in Changu village and ends in Nagarkot with the sun setting over the Himalayas.
