The seas around Okinawa are a mysterious marine world home to one of the most diverse ranges of life on the planet. Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium recreates this ecosystem from shallow coral reefs to the deep sea. It is located in Ocean Expo Park (Okinawa Commemorative National Government Park), and special exhibitions held several times a year bring new discoveries with every visit.

The sunlit "Coral Sea"

In the "Coral Sea" tank, where sunlight pours straight in, you can see a large-scale display of living coral. Watch coral growing under natural light and the Okinawan sea creatures moving among it up close.

In the huge "Kuroshio Sea" tank, meet the whale shark, the largest fish, and the reef manta ray, which the aquarium was the first in the world to breed. Standing in front of the tank, an overwhelming underwater scene unfolds before your eyes.

The "Deep Sea" tank recreates Okinawa's deep sea, much of which remains unexplored, letting you peer into its mysterious world. Follow the route from the Coral Sea through the Kuroshio Sea to the Deep Sea and experience the whole Okinawan ocean.
