This course departs from Osaka and captures the scenery of northern Kyoto in one day. The sea, mountains, and village atmospheres are completely different, making it fun to experience a different scene each time you travel. Ine Funaya is a village with houses lined up along the seaside, a scene that's evocative even just from looking at a photo. You can take a leisurely stroll during your free time, or take a cruise to admire the village from the sea.
Amanohashidate is considered one of Japan's three most scenic spots, and the panoramic view from the observation deck is truly unforgettable. The moment you ascend by cable car or monorail and gaze up at the scenery, your journey begins.
The final event is the Miyama Kayabuki no Sato Light-Up. In 2026, it will be held as the Winter Lantern Festival (冬灯廊), and the time when the village is filled with soft lights is truly beautiful.

A winter highlight complete with the illumination of Miyama Kayabuki no Sato.
Discover the Miyama Winter Lantern Festival, held only during the winter season in Miyama Kayabuki-no-Sato, a traditional thatched-roof village in the Kyoto mountains. As the sun sets, a variety of lights—from snow lanterns and alley lanterns to LED lights and even mulberry paper lanterns—come on throughout the village, bathing the entire thatched-roof village in a soft glow. The quiet alleys of daytime transform into a warm atmosphere at night, offering a magical winter nightscape. In 2026, the festival runs from Monday, January 19th to Friday, January 23rd. If your dates are right, you can also enjoy a dedicated Japanese dance performance at a historic shrine on January 21st.
A sentimental walk starting from the seaside village of Ine Funaya

Ine Funaya, a small fishing village in northern Kyoto, is famous for its unique landscape, where houses almost touch the sea. The funayas line the waterfront in a long line, and just walking through them evokes a sense of tranquility unique to Japan. The ambiance, with the sound of the wind and waves right in your ear, makes for truly beautiful photos.
You'll have about 60 minutes of free time. If you'd like, we recommend taking a cruise to view the village from the water. The Funaya Line from a boat offers a wide-open view and a bird's-eye view of the village's structure, making even a short ride highly satisfying. You can also feed the seagulls, but the cost of feeding is your own responsibility.
Panoramic view from the Amanohashidate Observatory, one of Japan's three most scenic views.

Amanohashidate is considered one of Japan's three most scenic spots, and the moment you climb to the observation deck, the atmosphere changes dramatically. The line between the sandbar cutting across the sea and the pine forest is truly unique, making the actual scenery even more impressive than it appears in photos.
This section lasts approximately 90 minutes, and it's a great way to enjoy the scenery while taking in the cable car or monorail ride from the observatory. If you choose the included option, the ropeway and cruise ship are included for a more convenient route. If you choose the ticket-free option, you can purchase these separately on-site. If you have plenty of time, you can leisurely stroll around the observatory and explore the photo spots.
