In this private cooking class, make Japanese home-style dishes at the apartment of a local chef living in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Using seasonal ingredients, cook 2 to 4 items from the menu of the day, such as teishoku set meals, donburi, curry rice, okonomiyaki or gyoza. Only your own group takes part, and the class is held in English. After cooking, enjoy a meal of the food you made and get a close look at everyday life in Tokyo.

Meet the chef at Shinjuku Station and
head to a local apartment kitchen
Meet your local chef in front of the police box at the East Exit of Shinjuku Station and walk together to the chef's cozy apartment in Shinjuku. This is a private class for your group only, held in English. Cooking in a real Tokyo home lets you experience local life up close.
Cook a Japanese home-style menu that changes by day

The menu depends on the day of the week, and you will make 2 to 4 items from that day's menu. Saturday to Tuesday is traditional meal day: teishoku (a set meal of rice, a seasonal main dish and two seasonal side dishes), donburi, obento, tonjiru, rice bowls and more.
Wednesday to Friday is popular food day: teishoku (with a fried main dish), curry rice, okonomiyaki, gyoza, ramen, rice burgers, karaage, yakisoba and more. Classes are offered in the morning (10:30 AM–1:00 PM) and evening (6:00 PM–8:30 PM), and you will learn the basics of Japanese cooking with seasonal ingredients.
Enjoy a meal of your own cooking

After cooking, enjoy a meal of the Japanese home-style dishes you made. Japanese barley tea is served as a drink.
Add a short neighborhood trip after the morning class

If you choose the option with a short trip after the morning class, a short excursion follows from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM. You will visit a few great places that are not found in guidebooks.
