Starting from the meeting point near Dobutsuen-mae Station, you visit 5 local eateries in the Shinsekai district one after another. These are hidden spots chosen by local expert guides, and you get around on foot through arcades and back alleys with Japanese-only menus. During the tour you can taste a total of 15 dishes and 3 drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic).
Taste Osaka specialties at a street stall and an izakaya
First, you head to a street stall selling takoyaki (octopus balls) and oden. Next, at an izakaya, you try Osaka-style kitsune udon, yakitori, chicken wings and nagaimo, and also enjoy kushikatsu, deep-fried vegetable and meat skewers first created in Osaka.
Stop by a traditional Japanese restaurant and a gyoza shop
Off the beaten path, you visit a cozy traditional Japanese restaurant. Here you can taste niku-dofu (simmered beef and tofu), yakitori skewers and mochi with a drink. After that, you stop by a gyoza (dumpling) specialty shop.
Finish with tonpeiyaki and karaage
The last stop is a unique Japanese eatery. Enjoy tonpeiyaki (pork omelet), edamame, seasoned Japanese fried chicken karaage, and Japanese pancakes or fruit, along with one drink of your choice included here. The tour ends back at the meeting point.
