About the Host

Highlights

This English-guided bus tour visits two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in one day: Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima and the Atomic Bomb Dome in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. Cross to Miyajima by ferry to see the shrine and its great torii gate that seems to float on the sea, then enjoy free time on Omotesando shopping street with local treats such as okonomiyaki, oysters and momiji manju. In the afternoon, reflect on the history of 1945 at the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Osaka and Kyoto departure options include round-trip Shinkansen tickets.

Program

Depart from Hiroshima Station
and head to Miyajima

With the Hiroshima option, the tour starts at Hiroshima Station; with the Osaka or Kyoto options, ride the Shinkansen for about 1.5 hours and begin the tour with your guide at Hiroshima Station. Pass Hiroshima Castle by bus during the roughly 45-minute drive, then take a 10-minute ferry to Miyajima.

See Itsukushima Shrine
and its great torii gate on the sea

Spend about an hour touring Itsukushima Shrine with your guide. See the red shrine buildings that appear to float on the water and the impressive great torii gate up close. Shrine admission is included.

Enjoy lunch at your own pace
on Omotesando shopping street

Enjoy about 1.5 hours of free time on Miyajima's Omotesando shopping street. Try local treats such as okonomiyaki, fresh oysters and sweet manju, or go shopping. Lunch is not included, so buy your own meal at a restaurant of your choice.

Reflect on Hiroshima's history at the
Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Museum

Return to central Hiroshima by ferry and bus and spend about an hour at the Atomic Bomb Dome in Peace Memorial Park with your guide. Then explore the exhibits of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum on your own for about 1.5 hours to learn about the events of 1945 and their aftermath. The tour ends at Hiroshima Station by bus.
