Highlights
This is a tour of about 4 hours to enjoy both the sunset and the starry night sky at the Uyuni Salt Flat. After pickup from your hotel in Uyuni town, you travel to the salt flat in a 4x4 vehicle carrying up to 6 people. Around sunset, you can capture the mirror effect reflecting the sky and optical-illusion photos on the white salt flat, and after dark, take starlight photos under a sky filled with the Milky Way. Waterproof boots are provided, a Spanish- and English-speaking guide accompanies you, and the tour is available for individuals or small groups.
Program
Depart from Uyuni town to experience
the salt flat at dusk and at night
The tour starts in Uyuni town at 4:30 PM. After pickup from your hotel in Uyuni, you drive about 30 minutes by 4x4 vehicle to the vast Uyuni Salt Flat. At the salt flat, you spend about 1.5 hours each enjoying the sunset and stargazing, and return to Uyuni at around 8:30 PM.
Watch the sunset and the mirror effect over the salt flat
As the sun goes down, watch the sky turn vivid colors and take fun optical-illusion photos on the endless white salt flat. When a thin layer of water covers the salt flat, you can also see the mirror effect that reflects the sky. Waterproof boots are provided so you can enjoy it without worrying about wet feet.
Take starlight photos under a sky filled with the Milky Way
After dark, the Milky Way appears in the clear night sky. Take photos and videos against the starry sky and enjoy the quiet night on the salt flat with a warm cup of coffee. Before heading back to Uyuni, there is also time to capture the scenery reflecting the sky.
※ The mirror effect mainly appears in the rainy season (January–June), is less likely in the dry season (July–December), and is not guaranteed.
※ Around the full moon or on cloudy days, the stars and the Milky Way may be hard to see.
