on a half-day or full-day tour
This guided city tour picks you up from your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle and takes you to Hanoi's main sights. It runs as a morning or afternoon half-day tour or a full-day tour depending on the option you book, with both group and private options. Entrance fees and bottled water are included, and you are dropped back at your hotel at the end.
Start at Tran Quoc Pagoda on West Lake

Your guide and driver meet you at your hotel at around 8:00 AM. First, visit Tran Quoc Pagoda on Golden Fish Island in West Lake. Dating back to the 6th century, it is the oldest pagoda in Hanoi and one of the city's most iconic religious landmarks.
See the Ho Chi Minh Complex, One Pillar Pagoda and the Museum of Ethnology

At the Ho Chi Minh Complex, visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and walk through the peaceful gardens and the simple stilt house where President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked from 1954 to 1969. Then see the famous One Pillar Pagoda, dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy.
Next, learn about the cultures and traditions of Vietnam's 54 ethnic groups at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology. If you add lunch, enjoy a meal of 8 selected traditional Vietnamese dishes at a local restaurant.
Visit the Temple of Literature and Hoa Lo Prison in the afternoon

The afternoon tour continues at the Temple of Literature, Vietnam's first university founded in the 11th century. This well-preserved site is a symbol of Hanoi's culture, education and traditional Vietnamese architecture.
Then visit Hoa Lo Prison Museum, originally built by the French colonial government to hold political prisoners. It later held American prisoners of war during the Vietnam War and became known as the "Hanoi Hilton". The tour ends at around 4:15 to 4:30 PM with a transfer back to your hotel.
※ Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed on Mondays and Fridays and from June 15 to August 15 every year. During these times, you can visit the surrounding area and take photos from outside.
※ On Mondays, the Vietnamese Women's Museum replaces the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.
