This is a ropeway ticket up Mount Hachiman in Omihachiman, Shiga. This product is sold at the child rate (ages 6-11). Hours are 09:00-17:00, with ticket redemption until 16:30.

A mountain castle where
Toyotomi Hidetsugu lived

Hachimanyama Castle was a mountain castle in former Gamo District, Omi Province, now Omihachiman, Shiga. Well known as the residence of Toyotomi Hidetsugu, it is also called Omihachiman Castle. On the summit ruins stands Murakumo Gosho Zuiryuji, built by Hidetsugu's mother in his memory.

Look down on Lake Biwa
and the old castle town

At the top, Lake Biwa, the old town below and mountain scenery spread out before you, perfect for photos. Its samurai-era atmosphere has made it a frequent filming location for Japanese historical dramas.

Explore Hachimanbori,
an Edo-period water town

Himure Hachimangu Shrine and Hachimanbori, once part of the castle town, are designated by the Japanese government as an "Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings." Along Hachimanbori, Edo-period architecture remains, creating a traditional Japanese water-town landscape. A statue of Hidetsugu erected by local citizens stands in Hachiman Park at the foot of the mountain.
