Spend a day walking snowy mountains in snowshoes with Zero Gravity, an outdoor tour operator based in the Hira Mountains of Shiga Prefecture. Choose from a first snow walk for beginners and elementary school children, a snow trek through Ashiu Forest, known as one of Kansai's hidden wilderness areas, or a snow trek on Mt. Jatanigamine for beginner to intermediate hikers. Groups are small (up to 8 people) so the guide can look after you closely, and snowshoe and pole rental plus lunch are included. The meeting point is about 60 minutes from Osaka or Kyoto on a single JR line, and the office has shower and changing rooms.
Meet at the Zero Gravity office in Takashima City at 9:00 AM and start a full-day (about 8 hours) snowshoe trek. Snowshoes and poles are provided as rentals, and no experience is required. Each group has up to 8 people, so the guide walks with you while keeping an eye on every participant.
Two courses are open to beginners and children of elementary school age and up: a walk for trying snowshoes on a snowy mountain for the first time, and a snow trek through Ashiu Forest, known as one of Kansai's deep forests. Lunch is included in both courses.
If you have some hiking experience, try the full-day course up Mt. Jatanigamine in the Hira Mountains. Lunch is included, and you will receive photos of the day as a gift.
※ The tour may be cancelled depending on weather and equipment conditions.
※ Snow conditions vary with the weather.
