Pompeii was excellent. The guide and the driver were very good. But I wish we didn't waste time in the limoncello factory and Sorrento and had longer in Pompeii. Sorrento, in particular was a waste of time as it was beyond Pompeii and we only had time to eat and nothing more.

Great guide on the bus. Even though we were only 4 French speakers in the group, he made the effort to translate everything in French for us. He took the time to be helpful and was extremely nice. The driver was skilled, especially in Sorrento. But the visit of a limoncello factory wasn't our cup of tea. we were much interested in Pompeii. We only stayed 1h30 in Pompeii, the guide was walking kind of fast but he shared exciting comments in English.

Very good trip. Time in Sorrento might have been cut short due to traffic or misunderstanding the concept. We stopped for a while at the lemonchello factory and store and then between where bus parked and only 1 hour time there was only time to walk to central square and grab a very quick lunch so no time for actual time to see much of Sorrento. But it’s basically the amazing views. Pompei guide Sasha was very knowledgeable and helpful in answering questions.

Depart from Rome and
explore the ruins of Pompeii in a day

This group tour takes an air-conditioned coach from Rome to Pompeii and back. You are picked up at hotels in central Rome, and in Pompeii you enter with priority access and walk the ruins with a local guide. The itinerary depends on your travel date. Until October 31 the day includes a stop in Sorrento, and from November 2 the coach goes straight to Pompeii.

Taste limoncello in Sorrento

The itinerary through October 31 includes a visit to Sorrento. At a local producer you learn how limoncello is made and taste it. You then have free time to explore Sorrento's lanes, boutiques and cafés.

Walk through Pompeii with a guide

You enter Pompeii with priority access. With a local guide you walk the ancient streets, see the preserved houses and hear about daily life before Mount Vesuvius erupted in AD 79. The guide leads in English or Spanish, and French and Portuguese are provided, when available, only during the guided visit of the site.

From November 2, spend longer in Pompeii

From November 2 the coach goes straight from Rome to Pompeii. With a licensed guide you spend about 2.5 hours in the Pompeii archaeological site, seeing well-preserved ruins, frescoes and public spaces. After the guided visit you have a little free time before returning to Rome.

How To Use

You are picked up at your hotel in central Rome, or, if pickup is not available, you meet the staff at the meeting point to start the tour.

If you stay at a hotel in central Rome, you are picked up there. Please wait in the hotel lobby 45 minutes before departure (60 minutes for hotels outside the city center). For the Portuguese option, wait in the lobby 10 minutes before your assigned pickup time and confirm the pickup time 24 hours before the tour. Pickup is not offered at B&B, apartments or guesthouses. If pickup is not available, come to the Villa Borghese entrance on Viale Giorgio Washington near Flaminio station (Metro Line A) at least 15 minutes before the start and look for the staff holding the "I Love Rome" logo. The tour starts at 7:30 a.m., and latecomers cannot join.
