Meet your driver-guide at the meeting point on Avenue des Ternes in Paris's 17th arrondissement and set off in an air-conditioned minibus. Giverny and Versailles are both less than an hour's drive west of Paris, so you can comfortably combine them in a single day. Your guide shares stories about French history and both sites in English.
Stroll through Monet's house and gardens in Giverny
After about an hour's drive, arrive at the Fondation Claude Monet (Monet's house and gardens) in Giverny and spend about 2 hours there. Learn about the Impressionist painter, then use your free time to explore the colorful interior of the house and walk the paths of the flower garden. You can also admire the water garden with its small green bridge and pond full of water lilies.
Next, stop for about 15 minutes at Claude Monet's grave nearby, then drive about 50 minutes to Versailles.
Explore the Hall of Mirrors and gardens of the Palace of Versailles
On arrival in Versailles, enjoy a lunch break of about 1 hour (meals not included). In the afternoon, spend about 3 hours at the royal estate of Versailles while your guide tells you about the French Revolution and the scandals surrounding Marie Antoinette. You enter the palace through a separate entrance without waiting in line.
Explore the palace interior freely with an audio guide, visiting the Royal Apartments and the dazzling Hall of Mirrors, and stroll through the well-kept French formal gardens. After your visit, the minibus takes you about 30 minutes back to the original meeting point.
