Take an easy walk along the cedar forest trails

Dongyanshan National Forest Recreation Area is in Fuxing District, Taoyuan City, about an hour's drive from Daxi. Large tracts of Japanese cedar forest keep the air fresh, and the flat trails are easy to walk. It's a great place for a leisurely stroll and forest bathing.

Climb to the summit for open views

You can follow the main trail all the way to the top of the mountain. When the weather is good, you can see distant views toward Taoyuan and Taipei from the summit.

Enjoy seasonal scenery and forest wildlife

Cherry blossoms bloom in spring, the leaves turn red in autumn, and frogs croak through summer nights. Thanks to the healthy ecosystem, mountain birds and small mammals are a common sight, and if you're lucky you may spot a white-faced flying squirrel.

Look back in time at the fossil area

The park has a fossil area displaying trace fossils left tens of millions of years ago. It's an easy day trip for anyone who loves nature and geology.
